Inward passengers carrying medicines shall comply with the following regulations:

(a) Medicines carried shall be for personal use only.
(b) If endangered species are used as medicine ingredients, a certificate issued by the competent agency is required for customs clearance. Where a prescription medicine in ROC is considered as a non-prescription medicine in the exporting country, the amount allowed for non-prescription medicine shall apply.
(c) The amount carried shall be within the allowance in the table:
Note: The measurement unit used in this table: bottles (boxes,cans, bars, sticks, packets,bags), etc. is limited to "original packaging".

Non-prescription medicine

Up to12 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks) per type, and up to a maximum of 36 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks).

Permit issued by TFDA is required for the customs clearance.

Prescription medicine Controlled drugs

Up to a 6 months’supply is permitted if the prescription (or a supporting document) is presented. The dosage shall not exceed what is stated in the prescription(or a supporting document).

A statement certified by TFDA is required for the customs clearance.

Others

It is allowed to carry up to 2 months' supply without a prescription (or a supporting document).
If you are carrying up to 6 months' supply, the prescription (or a supporting document) is required. The dosage shall not exceed what is stated in the prescription (or supporting document).

Permit issued by TFDA is required for the customs clearance.

Chinese Medicine Ingredients

Up to 1 kilogram of each type of ingredient, and up to a maximum of 12 types of ingredients.

Permit issued by the Department of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy is required for customs clearance.

Preparations

Up to 12 bottles (boxes) of each type, and up to a maximum of 36 bottles (boxes).

If you are in need of carrying chinese medicine with the amount exceeding the said limits, you shall present medical documents to the customs where you could carry up to 3 months supply.

Food preparations, in capsule or tablet form.

Up to12 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks) per type, and up to a maximum of 36 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks).

Permit issued by the TFDA is required for the customs clearance.

Contact lenses

Up to 60 pieces contact lenses with the same diopters. Up to 2 diopters of one brand is allowed.

Permit issued by the TFDA is required for the customs clearance.

※If passengers are traveling with prescription medicines of their own, please be advised to confirm the entry regulations of the destination first. It is suggested to carry prescription or a doctor's letter along for cross border inspection.
