Taichung Customs Encourages Taxpayers to Secure Their Own Rights

In order to protect taxpayers, Taichung Customs has launched taxpayer protection measures for implementation of the Taxpayer Rights Protection Act. Taxpayer Rights Protection Ombudsmen have been assigned to help taxpayers to communicate and negotiate tax disputes with competent authorities. Ombudsmen’s functions also include the acceptance of complaints and petitions from taxpayers and propositions of recommendations for improvement. If taxpayers decide to seek remedy in accordance with laws, the ombudsmen shall provide essential consultation and assistance.

Taichung Customs expresses that protecting taxpayers’ rights is its first priority. Director Chen has assigned senior officers with expertise, high emotional intelligence and good at communication and collaboration to serve as the Taxpayer Protection Ombudsmen and Chief Taxpayer Protection Ombudsmen, respectively. In addition, consultation room and single window have been established for taxpayer protection. Taxpayers may dial 04-26565101 extension 345 for help, and are encouraged to utilize this mechanism to secure their rights. It’s expected that the mechanism for reduction of litigation would facilitate the communications between Customs and taxpayers, so as to build up a harmonic relationship between taxpayers and Customs.

Taichung Customs further indicates that, in addition to the provision of ombudsmen office, a link to the dedicated webpage for taxpayer protection has been established on its official website (http://taichung.customs.gov.tw). Taxpayers can file an application and check its progress online. Besides, the contact information of ombudsmen, related regulations and requirements, Q&A, and other related materials are available on the dedicated webpage. Taxpayers are encouraged to make use of these services to secure their rights.
