Taxpayer Rights Protection Act Seminar held successfully at the Taichung Customs


The Customs Administration, Ministry of Finance held a seminar to introduce the new Taxpayer Rights Protection Act  (TRPA) on September 22 ,2017 at Taichung Customs. The TRPA was approved by the Taiwan Legislative Yuan on December. 9 2016 for the purposes of implementing the protection of taxpayers’ basic rights and achieving tax equity. The seminar was held in advance of the TRPA coming into effect on December 28 this year.


The seminar was co-hosted by the Taichung Customs and the Department of Customs Clearance Affairs, the Customs Administration, and was attended by active brokers, importers, exporters, bonding and relative bodies in central Taiwan. The seminar featured presentations from the customs Administration officials to explain the new Act, how it regulates the tax collection procedures, the disclosure of information, and due process the tax collection agency shall follow. The floor was then open to participants with questions and opinions exchanged and answered. 


The Taichung Customs further indicated that existing customs regulations have been reviewed to comply with the TRPA. Moreover, senior officers with suitable experience will be assigned to listen to the public opinion and will act as taxpayer rights protection ombudsmen. Further information will be announced on the customs website after the enactment of the TRPA.
